About Me

Hi all, my name is Nick and I’ll be spending 27 months (Sep ’11- Dec ’13) in Rwanda as a TEFL volunteer with the Peace Corps. My primary assignment will be teaching English, but I will also be involved in some HIV/AIDS education work as well. I’m from Tucson, AZ, and I graduated from the George Washington University in May 2011 with a B.A. in International Affairs. I have a strong interest in human development, the environment, and sustainability, and I am really excited to have the opportunity to volunteer with the Peace Corps. I also like: reading, poetry, foreign films, hiking, cooking, learning new languages, exploring, and so on. This blog will document the trials and tribulations, the ordinary joys and frustrations of my time in Rwanda.

My Timeline:

September 12: Leave Tucson for Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) in Philadelphia

September 14: Bus from Philly to NYC, fly New York-Brussels, Brussels, Kigali

September 15: Begin Pre-service Training (lasts about 10 weeks), site TBA
