If you have any questions, or simply want to talk to me, my email is nick.mcclur@gmail.com
If you prefer a more dignified means of communication, or would just like to exchange letters or postcards, I receive snail-mail sat the following address:
Nicholas McClure, PCV
B.P. 7 Gikongoro
District Nyamagabe
Province de Sud
Rwanda
This is the address for the P.O. box at my site, which should be valid through December 2013. I will still be able to receive mail at the general Peace Corps PO Box in Kigali, but I will not be able to pick mail up from the city as frequently.
TIPS FOR SENDING THINGS (as lifted from other Peace Corps blogs)
- Padded envelopes are great and relatively cheap. If you’re using a box, USPS standard/prepaid boxes are the best. FedEx, UPS, DHL are very pricey and Express mail is never express.
- Use tons of tape! To quote a PCV in Kenya, use as much tape as you think you would need if you were planning to drop-kick it into a pile of land mines. Now double that.
- For customs declarations, keep it short and sweet. “Educational materials” is pretty broad, and encompasses almost anything. Declare the value of the package at $10 or less.
- If you’re sending a postcard, use an envelope. Apparently pretty pictures often find their way into the wrong person’s pocket.
